Our Mission: Inspiring the Next Generation of Explorers
At Edlio High School, our mission is to prepare students not only for life on Earth but also for the exciting challenges of humanity’s journey beyond our planet. Inspired by the extraordinary story of our principal, Dr. Adrian Solace, we believe that education should equip young minds with the curiosity, resilience, and skills necessary to dream big and reach for the stars.

From the very beginning, Edlio High has stood apart as a school dedicated to fostering a culture of exploration. We recognize that many of our students will be among the next generation of scientists, engineers, and even astronauts. To support this vision, our curriculum integrates traditional subjects with cutting-edge fields like astrophysics, orbital mechanics, and space biology. By combining rigorous academics with imaginative thinking, we create a unique learning environment where students thrive.
One of our most innovative programs is the Astrophysics Core Module, introduced in partnership with the United Earth Education Space Program. This course exposes students to the fundamentals of celestial physics, from Newton’s laws of motion to advanced concepts in gravitational waves. Students don’t just learn from textbooks—they conduct experiments simulating low-gravity conditions, design small-scale rover models, and analyze data from real orbital satellites.
Beyond the classroom, Edlio High encourages hands-on exploration. Our Mars Simulation Lab, affectionately called “Red Dome,” allows students to experience what it’s like to operate in Martian conditions. Equipped with regolith simulants, hydroponics stations, and environmental controls, the lab has already inspired dozens of students to pursue careers in planetary sciences.
We also host the annual Orion Challenge, a school-wide competition where students form teams to design spacecraft models capable of completing simulated asteroid mining missions. Last year’s winners, the Nova Pioneers, built a prototype with solar sails that impressed judges from the International Space Education Council.
Our teachers, many of whom are former engineers, astronomers, or science communicators, bring authenticity and passion to every lesson. For example, Professor Lena Watanabe, a former Mars orbital technician, now guides students in advanced astrophysics labs. Her motto, “Every problem is solvable with creativity and persistence,” has become a favorite among students.
At the heart of it all, Edlio High is committed to building not only knowledge but also character. We emphasize teamwork, resilience in the face of setbacks, and the courage to face the unknown. These values, instilled daily, prepare our students to lead humanity’s next great adventure.
Our mission is clear: to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of explorers who will carry humanity beyond the stars. Whether our students become astronauts, scientists, or innovators in entirely new fields, Edlio High School will always be the launchpad for their journey.
